Tikk’s Thai Kitchen sits up on the top level at York’s container street food market Spark. They had a sign in the window saying that they were the Northern winners in the British Street Food awards and that was enough to get me interested and inside the container to check them out
Apparently Tikk is the man in the kitchen and he is serving up traditional Southern Thai recipes. I love a bit of Thai food so I was looking forward to this

THAI-STYLE CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN SATAY TACO
The Thai-Style Crispy Fried Chicken Taco was described as “Boneless marinated chicken thigh, peanut satay sauce, Thai Pickle, Mixed Salad, Thai Roti Taco”
I really liked this taco, it was really different having a roti taco, it was like a crispy crepe, yet still a thin roti. It was a nice change from the mexican style tacos we get used to. The marinated chicken with the satay sauce had great flavours. It was sweet, savoury and spicy all at once. The pickle and the salad had some great acidity and there was lovely hint of lime running through the dish.
CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN THAI STYLE WITH FRIED RICE
The Crispy Fried Chicken Thai Style Fried Rice was described simply as “Boneless Marinated Chicken Thigh, Fried Rice, Sweet Chilli Sauce” and that was essentially what you got.
The crispy fried chicken was basically the same as the one on the taco, it was just as good. I loved the crispy coating and the chicken thigh meat was still pretty juicy.
