EATiMe in Leeds specialise “in authentic, traditional Chinese rotisseries including duck, chicken and pork” also offering many popular rice and noodle dishes
They can be found tucked away in the Merrion Shopping Centre near to the entrance out to Merrion Way or better described (if you know the area) as “on the main mall inside the Merrion Centre adjacent to the lifts to CitiPark and just a 3 minute walk from first direct arena.” according to the Merrion Centre website
ROTISSERIE COUNTER

Although I do love a bowl of noodles, of which they had plenty, I had my eyes focused on their BBQ rotisserie counter and the chap behind it with his great big cleaver just waiting eagerly to chop us a slice or two! 😎
It reminded me of the many displays down in New York Chinatown where you will often see BBQ ducks hanging in the window and slabs of roasted pork on the counter. I hadn’t seen a place like this for ages so I was quite excited to order and eat
ROTISSERIE MENU

With that in mind I was focussed on the SiU MEi section of the menu or the Cantonese Style Rotisserie and just pondered how hungry I was and how much could I eat. For the record I was sharing but even so I wanted to get as much of the good stuff as I possible could manage.
The Two Meat Combo and the Three Meat combo were £10 for a regular portion and the Four Meat combo was only just 50p more. So obviously without sweating the thoughts I ordered the biggest Four meat combo which was Char Siu, Crispy Belly Pork, Roast Duck and the Chef Signature Marinated Chicken
Now after ordering I realised that maybe I hadn’t been as clever as I thought. The Four Meat combo being set to specific meats whereas for the Two and Three meat combos you had a choice of six different options so we could have pondered over having Roast Pork Ribs or Soya Chicken instead.
To be honest though I reckon we still got the best of the selection on offer so no loss 😎😋
FOUR MEAT COMBO

We had chosen to have our Four Meat Combo of Char Siu, Crispy Belly Pork, Roast Duck and the Chef Signature Marinated Chicken served on a bowl of egg fried rice and a little chopped salad.
It was a very very decent portion, a lot bigger than anticipated, and probably it was a good job that we had chosen to share. I mean it was lunch after all and I had many other places in Leeds that I wanted to try as well so I couldn’t let myself fill up too much 😂🤣
The meat is quite subtly flavoured so I did add a fair bit of soy sauce and rice vinegar into my plate to liven things up a bit. All the meats were moist and juicy, I liked the marinated chicken the most, I could not quite place the flavor, slightly vinegary perhaps with a little sweetness.
I enjoyed having the crispy skin on the duck and the chicken along with that little layer of fat just underneath that not everyone likes but I love.
The cold salad mixed into the fried rice made for rather tasty spoonfuls which was unexpected but most welcome
If I came again I might just have the two meat combo and get the chicken and the duck, just so that I could get more of each as I really enjoyed them the most
THOUGHTS FOR FUTURE VISITS

Today I was here for the BBQ meats but I did note that they sold bowls of noodle soup so I have another reason to visit again. I am not sure that I would be able to resist next time and woud be all over the Stewed Beef Brisket! probably with a side of BBQ meat of course!

There is plenty of space inside to dine in , one warning was that when we visited it was cash only as the ‘machine was not working’ so take some real money with you just in case 🤣
Its a great spot for a bite of lunch at a very reasonable price
