I know that there are SOHO Coffee Co. outlets all over the place but I had never been to one and when in Swindon at the Designer Outlet last week it looked to be one of the better options to grab some sort of breakfast and a coffee. So I did

The board outside was singing the virtues of their ‘Proper Breakfast Butties’ and to be fair they looked fairly decent in the photograph so we ordered some

THE BIG BREAKFAST BUTTIE

I ordered the BIG BREAKFAST BUTTIE described on the menu as ‘Bacon, Lincolnshire sausages & free range egg in our stone-baked Vienna roll ‘

I was fascinated watching them prepare the food. One tray with the meats went into one oven/microwave for about 90 seconds, while the eggs were broken onto a second tray and placed in another oven/microwave for about the same time.

I don’t have a microwave or any similar contraption in my kitchen so I was very curious to see how this food came out

SAUSAGE, EGG & BACON BUTTY

It was a big surprise to find that my cob or buttie to play the game was filled out with some well cooked and tasty food. The sausage was meaty and crispy skinned, the bacon thick and meaty, and the egg perfectly fine with soft white and runny yellow yolk

I was concerned about the machines being used but you know what it all came out fine and it does show that more often or not it is best not to ask what is going on in the kitchen and just eat what comes out!

In summary the BIG BREAKFAST BUTTIE was indeed big and happily everything was very tasty.

TRIPLE BACON & EGG BUTTY

The TRIPLE BACON & EGG BUTTIE was exactly as decribed in the name “Three rashers of bacon & free range egg, served in our soft roll”

There was nothing to complain about here, the roll was soft, the bacon thick, crispy and tasty and the egg cooked properly with a nice runny yolk.

Just like the BIG BREAKFAST BUTTIE this was a decent bite of food at a reasonable price and just perfect to fill me up and get the day started.

So OK this probably wasn’t my dream breakfast to start the day off but if I was passing a SOHO Coffee Co. outlet again one day and wanted a breakfast cob I would not hesitate to pop in and grab one 😎
