Tradizioni are a very welcoming and friendly Italian joint in Cambridge. The tagline on their website is ‘Authentic Italian Food cooked just as our Grannies taught us’. I kind of liked that!
We were staying in town doing the Cambridge Standing Tall Wild in Art trail and this place was pretty close to where were staying on the bustling Mill Road part way between the train station and the city centre.
So it was a good spot to find some food without having to make the effort of going all the way into town. We fancied some pizza and this place seemed to be as good as any to try out.
Pizza wise it was interesting as they do square pizza here instead of the more usual circular ones and they also offered half pizza which were going to be rectangular ones. It was an episode of Playschool from the 70’s themed on a pizzeria. ‘Today we will be eating the square pizza’
We decided to get two pizza to share and we were doing our best to choose something different. I always want the meat feast so tried really hard not to pick one just like that. I probably failed but anyway lets see what we got in the end 😎🧐
AGNELLO PIZZA PICTURE FROM THE MENU

First up was the Agnello Pizza listed on the menu as being a “Tomato, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Lamb Ragu, Meat Pizza”. I suppose you will see straight away that I got my meat but a ragu is slightly different eh?
MY SLICE OF AGNELLO PIZZA

The Agnello was a very comforting pizza to eat, there was a lot of cheese topping draped all across the top of the slice, almost like a piece of cheese on toast.
Beneath the cheese was whole lot of Ragu sauce buried on top of the crust. It was a strange combination and if you had not told me it was a meat ragu I could have imagined it was a topping of tuna. That was the sort of taste and vibe I was picking up flavour wise.
I actually really liked it and I am quite tempted to make my own version with my classic Friday night bolognaise sauce, only doing it as Cheese on Toast topping the sauce. Easier huh? 😎
ANDREA PIZZA PICTURE FROM THE MENU

The second rectangle of Pizza that we shared was the Andrea Pizza described on the menu as toppings of “Tomato, Mozzarella, Mushrooms, Italian Sausage and Pepperoni”
This sounded more my style with the sausage and the pepperoni, half a meat feast I was thinking as we chose it.
The picture from the menu does look a lot better than the one I took in the dimly lit restaurant, and I am only showing it as it is fairer to give you a nice view of the food (I think)
ANDREA PIZZA

I think that the ANDREA PIZZA was my favourite of the two that we chose. I really liked the mix of Italian herbs with the crumbly sausage combined with that little bit of spice that I suspect came from the pepperoni.
The crust on both was good, a thickish base not unlike a the crust from a loaf of bread, a little chewy and a good solid bite
The tomato sauce base was evenly spread and was a really good base layer, unlike some places were it is just a smear it seems to be a much more prominent component here, perhaps that is the quality of the sauce that just make it shine a little more!
