Fuego Neapolitan Pizza and Grill in Worcester: Fantastic Woodfired Pizza

This weekend we were in Worcester on another Wild in Art Trail (this time Waddles of Worcester aka Penguins) after much bimbling about town we found ourselves at Fuego Neapolitan Pizza & Grill on Foregate Street near the station where we planned to feast on some of their Fantastic Wood Fired Neapolitan Style Pizza

The place was rammed. we hadn’t booked, so we were really chancing our arms trying for a table. We were in luck (sort of) getting the last available spot perched up on some sort of wagon wheel table affair by the door. So yes we got a good view but we also got the draft, happily it was a warm evening so we were grateful for the fresh air

NEAPOLITAN PIZZA MENU

The menu was mostly pizza, which was good as that was what we came in for, pizza names in proper Italian style, no Hawaiian, and no Meat Feast on this list. We had to actually read the descriptions to work out what we wanted 🤣😎

CHORIZO PIZZA

Our first choice was the CHORIZO pizza described on the menu as “Fior de Latte, Chorizo, Chicken, Roasted Red Peppers, Red Onion, Oregano

We thought we knew what we were getting with this choice, Hopefully lots of chorizo 😎 but with the chicken as well it seemed that there was going to be a little more substance to this pizza pie

CHORIZO PIZZA CLOSE UP

The CHORIZO pizza was excellent full of all the classic flavours we expected, there was a bold use of oregano and a lovely mix of pepper and onion alongside thinly sliced discs of chorizo

The chorizo was charred a little giving it a little chewiness and a crisp bite. The pepper and onion added sweetness to go alongside the slightly salty and creamy cheese.

GENOVESE PIZZA

The second pizza we selected was more of a punt as we opted for the GENOVESE pizza also for £15.90. This was a total downshift flavour wise from our typical meaty feast type of choices

Described as “Fior De Latte, Chicken, Courgettes, Sun dried Tomato, and Green Pesto” it was a bold choice picked just because I liked all four main ingredients and hoped that they would marry well together.

GENOVESE PIZZA CLOSE UP

I was very happy with this choice, the GENOVESE pizza was very summery with the pesto and the courgette adding a lightness and and almost cooling freshness to my tastebuds with each bite. The sundried tomato added pops of sweetness and a good contrast to the garlic in the pesto

The chicken added a soft meatiness but I would not have missed it if it had not been present on the pizza really the stars were the mix of sundried tomato and the pesto.

I really enjoyed the combination of flavours in both pizzas and I was glad that we had chosen something a little different by getting the Genovese one. Both of the pizza had a fantastic crust that was soft and chewy, full of air and nicely charred in places. They certainly know how to cook a pizza here at Fuego!
