Asian Street food from Clapping Seoul and Catsu in Doncaster

This weekend we were in Doncaster on another one of our Wild in Art trails looking for Elmers on the ELMER’S CHRISTMAS ART PARADE DONCASTER hosted by @mydoncaster

We certainly needed some food to sustain us on our hunt and so we checked out some of the Street food offerings at the Woolmarket where we found some Excellent Korean and Japanese Street food from @clapping_seoul and @catsu_doncaster_wm

First up was a bowl of Beef Ramyun from Clapping Seoul who specialise in Korean Street Food. I had seen a small chalkboard on the counter offering Ramyun and Rice with Beef and an Egg in spicy noodles. I checked that it was a soup bowl and ordered myself one quick smart!

BEEF RAMYUN

This was excellent a bowl filled with a Deep and dark spicy broth within which copious amounts of thinly sliced beef lurked alongside, a fried egg and a whole load of noodles. Other bits of stuff floated in and around the bowl but it was mostly meat and noodles which personally I loved.

BEEF RAMYUN WITH RICE

For some unknown reason it came with a side of rice topped with crispy onions that I dipped clumps of into the broth to soak it up. I realluy wasn’t complaining at the extra carb as I needed it both to fill me up but also to alleviate some of the spice from the broth. It turned out to be a bit of a god send!

CATSU AT WOOLMARKET PLACE

The second port of call in the street food market place was to Catsu who were offering up their take on Japanese cuisine. Here we ordered a Bowl of Katsu chicken on rice which came with a dark thick Katsu curry sauce.

KATSU CHICKEN AND RICE

This was another faultless bowl of food filled with some nicely breaded and crispy coated slices of chicken breast set on top of a pile of plain white rice and smothered with a serving with a Classic Katsu curry sauce. The sauce was a bit spicier than some we have had but it was a lovely thick gravy and was a a meal that clung onto your waistline long after it was scoffed down.

I thought that the amount of chicken in this dish was very generous for £9 and a bit of a bargain compared to many places. There was no skimping on portion size up here in Sunny Donny!
