Buttylicious in Southport is a great place to grab some breakfast . They offer all the usual suspects ‘bacon, egg, and sausage’ served up as expected in between bread (Barms) and as part of a fry up.
They also offer Panini, Sandwiches, Toasties, and Jacket Spuds filled and topped with all the classics, tuna, beans, cheese and variations upon
The place is more geared up for counter service and takeout but they do have several tables inside where you can eat you food or just wait for it to be cooked up. We opted to eat in, picking the window seat so we could people watch as we hung out
MENU BOARD AT BUTTYLICIOUS

I know what I am ordering here at Buttylicious before I take a proper look at the menu, I am getting a breakfast, but just for the fun of it I’ll play along and pretend I was thinking about what I could get, perhaps what I might get on a future visit?
If I was less hungry I would get a Barm, a regional bread name I don’t encounter that much. Back down my way we call them Cobs but not up here. ANYWAY I would certainly consider a Bacon, Sausage, and Egg Barm for just £4.50 but having said that another bread option that looks great value is the Jumbo Breakfast for only a quid more at £5.50 which is 2 Eggs, 2 Bacon, and 2 Sausages served on a Baton ( a Roll to you and I down our way)
The dish that really did catch my eye was the BREAKFAST SPECIAL PIZZA for £8, that is a 10″ pizza topped with Beans, Cheese, Bacon, Sausage, and Eggs. This sounds like a bit of a hangover cure and speaking to the chap behind the counter it seems that often it is ordered by those somewhat worse for wear from the night before or ‘hanging’ as he called it. If I come back I am having this! 🤣😎
FULL ENGLISH AT BUTTYLICIOUS

The Full English at Buttylicious has to be the deal of the year! For just £7 you get a plate filled with 2 Bacon, 2 Sausages, Egg, Black Pudding, Hash Brown, Mushrooms, Beans, Tomato and 2 Slices of Toast. Many places would charge far more and I rarely see a slice of black pudding included at that price!
The sausages were firm and solid, the bacon crisped well and tasted decent. The black pudding was creamy, perhaps could have been cooked a bit more. The egg looked ragged but was cooked properly and had a runny yolk.
The beans and mushrooms were decent plate fillers and the hash brown was almost the star of the show as it had a really crunchy coating and a hint of onion in the mixture.
I like the well buttered toast but left the tomato as it was a bit too solid and needed more grill time to release the juices
Lets be frank, this is all about value, there isn’t any level of gourmet on this plate and you know what? neither do I want gourmet or seek gourmet I just wanted a big hearty fry-up to set me up for the day and that is what I got.
BUTTYLICIOUS

Buttylicious is a top spot to grab a breakfast bite in Southport. It is more geared up for takeaway than for dining in and most of the trade we saw while eating were workman in high vis jackets and the odd nurse passing through so it looked to be one for the locals in the know and at these prices I can see why!
Buttylicious is located at 8 Tower Building. Leicester Street, Southport, PR90BL just around the corner from Lord Street.
You can check them out and the menu on their website and on their Facebook page
