The Atlantic View Cafe on East Street in Newquay was todays port of call for Breakfast. It is a fairly small place on the main road running along the front, but there was enough room inside for us to get out of the wind.

It seemed pretty popular and their was plenty of hustle and bustle about the place, smiling faces behind the counter and on the punters gave me hope of a decent feed to start the day

BREAKFAST MENU AT THE ATLANTIC VIEW CAFE

Normally I would have ordered the MEGA BREAKFAST comprising 2 Bacon, 2 Cornish Sausages, 2 hash Brown, 2 Cornish Free range eggs, beans or tomatoes (I would have chosen beans), Toast and Tea but I knew that there were Pasties, Fish and Chips, and other Seaside Treats to be had later in the day so was being restrained.

If I came back again I probably would go all out on the ATLANTIC BUSTER which was just as big with 2 Bacon, 2 Cornish Sausages, 2 hash Brown, a Cornish Free range eggs, beans, 2 Toast and Tea but also with tomato and Black Pudding

As it was though today it was just a small snack to get me started and I opted for the SMALL BREAKFAST of Cornish Sausage, Cornish Free Range Egg, Bacon, Hash Brown, Beans and Toast plus tea for £9.80

SMALL BREAKFAST

I instantly regretted my choice as the SMALL breakfast really did seem small after reading the other menu options and I felt I had short changed myself and my belly

On the plus side the Sausage was decent, good flavour and nicely browned. The Bacon was crisp and thickly cut, I enjoyed that the fat was rendered properly.

The Beans arrived in a pot and were quickly dispatched onto the plate making sure to build my own barrier between them and the egg using the sausage hash brown and toast

Despite being cut out of other eggs in the pan, so that it was square the egg was decent with a firm white and a good runny egg yolk.

The well buttered and properly browned toast was a distinct highlight compared to many places.

In summary this place was perhaps a little pricier than many greasy spoons I like to frequent but it was a bit nicer quality wise. They also had other options (bigger ones) that might encourage a return visit

Importantly they did produce a very Good mug of tea!
