Tonight’s top Smashburger action was to be found at Broad Street Burgers in Padstow. You may have noticed that I am quite partial to the odd burger so it was probably not unexpected that once I learned of this new spot near the harbour I would be most likely to visit
DOUBLE CHEESE AND BACON BURGER
I opted for the Double Cheese and Bacon Burger for £12.50 described on the menu as “2 x 100% beef smash patties, smoked streaky bacon, American cheese, pickles, onions, and our secret burger sauce”
I liked the thickly cut smoked bacon and the creamy secret sauce although it does perhaps overpower the overall balance of the burger a little for my tastebuds
It was good to find plenty of cheese inside the sesame seeded bun and just a hint of pickle and onion to add a little crunchy sharpness
SINGLE CHEESEBURGER
My partner in dine chose the Single Cheese Burger for £9.50, the simplest offering described as “100% beef smash patty, American cheese, pickles, onions, and our secret burger sauce”
I think that they would have liked one with Bacon as well but for some reason the menu only offered that option with a Double Patty burger. I tried to request some bacon as well but they couldn’t grasp that we just wanted the one patty so I gave up lol
The burger patty was well charred, and a good solid meaty bite.

I do love a Smashburger and this effort did not disappoint and I was very happy to find one in Padstow while on vacation, an unexpected treat
It was a pretty good effort, great flavour, nice bun, and a decent size. The grind of the meat was a little different as it was a bit chewy, perhaps rougher that some patties and more steak like, I think it could do with a bit more fat? Having said that it was still jolly decent
I did love that there was a great view out of the window to the harbour and as we dined once most of the tourists had left we didn’t have masses of people and dogs swarming around outside so it actually felt quite peaceful
The last time I was here in Padstow I sat at more or less the same table with the same view, only on that day I was eating a bowl of mussels at the Mussel Box which is no longer here. I truly hope that the Broad Street Burgers will still be here next time I visit!
