Harbour Fish and Chips in St Ives

On a damp drizzling day at the coast a plate of Fish and Chips is just the thing to lift up the spirits. It is even better if you can sit inside out of the rain and so it was that we found ourselves crossing the threshold of the Harbour Fish and Chip shop in St Ives on a mission to complete both shelter and a full belly of Chippy Joy

THE MENU

I sometimes wonder why we bother looking at the menu when we come to the chippy as we pretty much always have the same thing. It is either Haddock or Cod, with Chips, and then Mushy Peas or Curry Sauce.

OK so admittedly I am the one that flip flops between the choice of fish and of side dish, and the whole curry sauce thing being a relatively new thing for me

HADDOCK AND CHIPS

So today we both had the same fish and it was a rather nice fillet of juicy flaky Haddock. The flesh was firm moist and meaty and it was covered in a light crisp outer coating of batter.

There were plenty of chips, and they did seem to be cut pretty consistently so we got some good thick ones, crisp on the outside and fluffy inside.

As my side I didn’t fancy the crushed minted peas on the menu, they need to be proper mushy and saucy for me, so instead I went for a pot of Curry sauce (I have been converted) which is becoming more of a thing in my life these days

The Harbour Fish and Chip Restaurant in St Ives was a popular spot, and even though it was busy the food came out quick and it was a very decent plateful.

We had manged to get a window seat so we had great view of the harbourside and despite the rain it still looked great 😎

Located at Wharf Road, St Ives, TR26 1LF the Harbour Fish and Chip Shop is pretty easy to find. It is quite close to the RNLI shop and being right on the front it right in and amongst it.
