Pasties at the Bakehouse in Dartmouth

The Bakehouse in Dartmouth is a proper fresh bakery located not far from the river just alongside Dartmouth Harbour. We were in town and just wanted a quick bite to eat to keep us going so popped in to see what they had to offer

I do like a hunt for a Pasty and normally I reserve that challenge for my beloved Cornish ones. However there are times when we are just across the border and I still want some baked delights so I admit scoffing the odd Devon Pasty instead

BAKEHOUSE PASTY

I was loving the colour of the pasty, all golden brown, it looked like it was going to be a flaky and buttery bite and I could not wait to take a bite

Oh yes, it was just as I hoped, bits of flaky pastry sticking to my cheeks and fingers as I took bite after bite.

Inside there was a lot of juicy steal meat mixed with swede and potato and an almost gravy like sauce around the filling too.

It was a jolly good pasty, obviously not as good as my favourite Cornish Pasties but good enough for me to be left wanting a bit more šŸ˜ŽšŸ’•

We found a great spot to eat our pasties on a bench in a small park by the Harbour looking over to the river and the old railway station. The seagulls left us alone but the pigeons did wander around our feet looking for crumbs. The wildlife seemed a bit more patient around these here parts šŸ˜Ž

The Bakehouse is located at 7 The Quay, Dartmouth, TQ6 9PS right on the front.

Note: I did come back for more baking action later in the day grabbling a rather tasty sausage roll before getting the bus back to the park and ride šŸ˜‚
