Last year when we visited the Norfolk coast I made a beeline to Sheringham to check out the Pies at Norfolk’s Pie Man (read more here) .
While we were there I made note that they also did breakfasts and those who know me and read this blog may had spotted that I have a penchant for scoffing such things
With that in mind that we paid them a return visit and this time I was full on in breakfast mode (for lunch) 🤣😎😍
BREAKFAST MENU

There was only really one decision that I had to make and that was about how big a breakfast I wanted and how much I could actually eat.
The choice was between the ALL DAY and the ULTIMATE (which sounded like more of a challenge than a serious portion)
The ALL DAY was made up of 2 sausages, 2 bacon, Egg, Toast, Beans, Mushrooms, Black Pudding and a tea or coffee for £9.45
The ULTIMATE was a much larger affair offering Sausage Pattie, 3 bacon, 3 eggs, beans, mushrooms, 2 hash browns, black pudding and 2 toast (plus the tea) for £11.45 a mere 2 quid more
It was tempting but far too much for one man on this occasion. I did make note that it would be a good takeout option as we could have easily shared that between the two of us
ALL DAY BREAKFAST

I was very happy with my ALL DAY breakfast plate at the Norfolk’s Pie Man cafe, there was a lot of it and everything on the plate was prepared properly. The toast was nicely browned not anemic like some places that barely show it the grill and happily it was lathered with butter (or spread).
The sausage was meaty and showed the char marks from the pan, all the fat on the bacon slice was rendered properly so I had a nice crisp rind and well cooked meat.
The black pudding was tasty, well seasoned with good depth of flavour and almost a little creamy as I recall. I like that there are lumps of white fat in the midst of the slice as I find that to be the sign of a good pudding.
The egg was as I prefer with a soft white and a runny yolk, I would have loved a second egg but to be honest I am not sure where it would have fitted on the plate.
The mushrooms were juicy and plentiful, I say that because a few minutes after I started eating the lady from the kitchen came out with the pan and ladelled me a couple more scoops insisting that I hadn’t had a full portion.
As always I didn’t need the beans, its just a plate filler but at least this time I didn’t have to contemplate a portion of tinned tomatoes as well.
Being slighlty more generous I suppose that they do add some moisture to the plate and something for the toast to mop up.
Ultimately (see what I did there) I was very happy with my breakfast situation and very pleased that we had made the return trip so that I could tick off another greasy spoon cafe in the county on my list.
