Leeds Kirkgate Market -Jennys Jerk Chicken

Jenny’s Jerk Chicken is another great spot to grab some lunch at Kirkgate Market .

They serve up authentic Caribbean food packed with flavour and served up with a warm smile

We ate here twice between us over a couple of visits trying the Jerk Chicken and the Mutton (Goat) curry.

JERK CHICKEN AND RICE

I had the Jerk Chicken and Rice which came with optional salad and curry sauce or gravy that I chose to pour over the rice.

There was plenty of chicken mostly thigh meat I think and well cooked through so that it tender and still a little juicy. It had a good flavour of jerk seasoning but it wasn’t particularly spicy

There was also a good portion of rice and perhaps I should have taken the sauce on the side as I lost the flavour of the rice n peas. There was plenty to fill me up anyway.

CURRY GOAT (MUTTON)

The Curry Mutton (Goat) came on the bone but was so well cooked and tender that it fell right off. It had a good taste of the curry and went well with the soft rice.

I thought it was a good sized portion and there was plenty of meat in there even if there was a lot of bone which some people struggle with. You need it on the bone though so you get a better flavour

Both meals were good value for the money, plus service was fast and easy

Jenny’s Jerk Chicken are located in the back of the market place at Cafe D, Street Food Kitchen, Leeds Kirkgate Market, 34 George Street, Leeds, LS2 7HY
