On our latest visit to Bakewell we were delighted to find that Tiroler Stuberl was back open again serving up Austrian sausage action. We always used to come here for a bit of cooked sausage in a bun when were were in the village and were quite sad when they had closed down
Roll forward a couple of years and some new people have re-opened the place and kept on much of the same theme sausage wise.
AUSTRIAN SAUSAGE MENU

The menu was not as extensive as we recalled being restricted now to a selection of Austrian Sausages all served in a Bun topped with with Austrian Mustard, Ketchup, and Crispy Fried Onions for £11.95 or a plate of Bratwurst Loaded Fries for ‘gulp’ £12.50!
I was happy to see that they still offered a wide range of sausage with ‘Bratwurst, Frankfurter, Kasekrainer, Spicy Kaisekrainer, Waldviertler, and Debreciner’ all on the list
My favourite has always been the cheese filled Kraisekrainer so that was my choice today

Presentation wise this was a lot neater than I remembered it being here at Tiroler Stuberl but I was not as excited as I was before. The sausage looked well cooked, and was smothered in a generous drizzle of mustard and ketchup as well as a scattering of crispy onion. The issue I has was that the bun it was sitting in was a lot bigger than the actual sausage so already I knew there was wasted bread. Just give me a proper sized bun 🤣🧐
If you like salad then I concede this was a very nicely prepared side dish of tomato, green leaf, sweet peppers and red onion, with a tasty salad dressing. Nothing to complain about here.
The mini shopping basket of fries were decent, crisp outside, fluffy potato inside, seasoned well and perfect for dipping into my side of curry ketchup sauce. Sure I would have liked more but I got what I got

Happily all is forgiven when you get to chow down on the Kaisekrainer sausage with it’s soild smoked pork meat and melty cheese filling. I love the crisp skin and that real snap when you take a bite, its the real deal.
The mustard and ketchup are the perfect combination and always a great flavour memory. The crispy onion bits add some nice crunch and a bit of a contrast both texture wise and flavour wise.
The bits of bread with sausage in and bits covered with sauce were perfect, the end bits just got left as it was basically just a bit of chewy bread
Yes obviously I will come back again and eat more sausage here at Tiroler Stuberl just because I love their Austrian sausages. Maybe next time the meat to bread ratio will be closer

Tiroler Stuberl located on Water Street in Bakewell right in the middle of the village. They have a Facebook page but that hasn’t been updated since it was reopened and I haven’t found any new social since
