Harman Bagels are located on Cremyll Street right by the entrance to the Royal William Yard (and handily just below our AirBNB) you can see the window above in the picture

Every morning I could here random numbers being shouted out as I lay in bed from down below on the streets and we were about to learn that this was for the multitudes of punters visiting the Bagel shop collecting their daily fixes of coffees, pastries and most importantly bagels

We had to check this out and were very happy to find that hey were serving up a whole lot of bagel love, and most importantly for my soul first thing in the morning, ones featuring breakfast items

We all had the bagels filled with Bacon, Egg, & Cheese just because it was early morning and I wanted breakfast, I guess everyone else was on board with that vision.

Bagel wise I chose one topped with Monterey Jack Cheese, and I also asked for a little bit of brown sauce too. Turns out that a little bit was quite a lot!

The rest of the family opted for bagels topped with ‘everything’ seasoning (a blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, salt, and onion). I usually quiet like that topping too but cheese always wins if I get the choice.

There was plenty of filling, well cooked egg and several rashers of bacon, some of us opted for crispier slices, which was a good plan but while I like the crunch I was happy with mine which were a bit softer and still had all the lovely bacon juices intact

I enjoyed the egg and the cheese mixed with the salty bacon. The yolk almost runny and enough cheese to get a good bit of molten action

As always I found the bagel bread quite chewy but that’s the name of the game and to be honest probably a good thing as it slows my scoffing down a pace and I eat it more sensibly instead of wolfing it down

The ones from Harman Bagels are pretty decent though, much more airy than some and not at all doughy. I could get on board more often if I lived upstairs all the time

HASH BROWNS for the WIN

We had a side of their hashbrowns to share which were nice and crispy with a good crunch. A good optional extra 🤪 they looked like the ones from McDonald’s but they actually taste nice here 😎

They came with a pot of mayo which was nice and rich but unnecessary, I don’t know why I asked for it now, ketchup might have been better. I know I sound like the heathen that I am

PASTRIES TO DROOL OVER

This was a very decent sized bite of food and kept some of us going for most of the day (I was hungry again by lunch 😇)

Inside on the counter there was a display of some excellent looking pastries, in particular this one with fresh strawberries. I wish I had ordered one now as I never came back to try one. What a fool I was!

BAGEL OPTIONS

It was good to see that they were making everything fresh each day and had a good selection of bagel toppings. It reminded me of my time living in America where bagels were a daily fixture for many and as a start to the morning.

I enjoyed my topping of Monterey Jack cheese, and had been torn between that and the Everything bagel topping. Later inside after eating and too late to choose I spotted the Tear and Share bagel with poppy seeds, Monterey jack cheddar and garlic. Then I wished I had ordered that with some mushroom, bacon and egg from the optional add-ons

Before we end the chat I have to return back to the menu to ponder some of the other bagel combinations. They have the classics down to a tee with ones filled with ‘Salmon and Cream Cheese‘ and other filled with ‘Salt Beef.’

The one that did intrigue me was the sweet sounding combination of ‘Banana. Peanut Butter, and Cinnamon Sugar’ but I wasn’t sure I could take the ‘rush’ of all that sugariness first thing, I suspect that with that and a coffee I would be bouncing off the walls all morning like an unruly toddler
