Ruckus ‘pizza, pasta & spirits’ over on Park Place in Morrisville exceeded my expectations. When I walked in this week looking for some lunch I was expecting some sort of chain Italian serving pizza and pasta, but what I found was a pretty decent sports bar serving up some decent food, the sort of place I might come to on Sunday to watch the game.
I was out for lunch with Mike from ‘Runner Thoughts’ again, and this time it was his choice, and it was to be a very good suggestion indeed! When Mike comes to Nottingham I find him places to eat and drink from my Nottingham Food Blog, now that I am over here in his town he is helping me out with a lot of really great places. Cheers Mike and sorry I won’t be there next month 🙂
I digress lets get back to eating this lunch at Ruckus!
On their website they say “Join us for Great Food, Great Beer and Good Times. Pizza, Pasta, Spirits and Sushi. Our promise to you is Great Food Always with a side of good times.”
This does sound like an interesting combination of things. ‘Pizza and Pasta’, I get, but ‘Spirits and Sushi’? that sounds like a night club I am way too old for
What did we eat?
I had – The End All
I picked the “End All” which was a 1/2 lb Blackened Chicken Breast in a toasted Kaiser roll topped with Vermont Cheddar and Crispy bacon, served with Lettuce, Tomato, and red onion in the bun.
This was one heck of a good sandwich, it turned out that ‘blackened chicken’ was a juicy tender breast coated in a charred spicy Cajun seasoning, and I was loving that.
The crispy bacon was ‘super crispy’, the Vermont cheddar was melted perfectly and had that awesome creamy taste.
I loved the toasted Kaiser roll (0ne of my favourite bread rolls) and the layering of the lettuce on the lower bun helped to keep the juices inside the sandwich perfectly.
The Italian Stallion
Mike got the ‘Italian Stallion’ which was a Parmesan-crusted toasted hoagie filled with Ham, pepperoni, salami, onions, provolone, lettuce, tomato and mayo. It looked really good and Mike said it was really good. I might come over on another lunch time and get this too.
Both Mike and I got the ‘House Pasta Salad’ with our sandwiches, and although my initial words were ‘this looks sad and grey’ I was very wrong. It was one of the better pasta salad sides I have been served for a while. I ate all mine, it was like a mildly garlic mushroom flavour with just a hint of vinegar, and the pasta was creamy and perfectly cooked just over the edge of all dente which is what I like. OMG that side got more words than the sandwich 🙂
