Salsa Fresh ‘original Mexican Grill’ at Morrisville Market is one of three locations in the Triangle, the other two are in Raleigh. They say they serve everything as Fresh (every day), no freezers, no microwaves, this all sounded really promising.

They also say that “Salsa Fresh offers the best California-style Mexican food in Raleigh”. Ok so to be fair we were trying out the one in Morrisville, but I still hoped that it would be good.

Fish Taco’s Combo

I had the Fish Taco’s special, which was two tacos, black beans, rice, Fresh salsa, sour cream and chips for just $6.99. There were (honestly) two of the taco’s but I ate one to make room on the plate to make decent photo.

This was a bit of a mixed bag, I really enjoyed the taco’s, the fish was cooked perfectly all soft and moist inside a lovely crunchy coating just as I like it.

The accompanying salsa and crispy red lettuce inside the soft flour tortilla added a nice bit of freshness to the bite.

The rice, black beans, and salad were really a great big plate filler. I didn’t really need as much of them as was on that plate, they were filling and meant that size wise the plate was good value.

If I was here again I might just have the Fish Taco’s on their own  I didn’t need all that extra filling!

Saturday Chalkboard

I was drawn towards the chalkboard listing their Saturday specials, I liked the sound of the ‘Spicy Pork Taco Plate’ for $6.99 as that looked like pretty good value. The words ‘comes with out very popular and newly featured Spicy Pork’ seemed to be quite a bold line on the board. The sort of statement that makes a myfoodhunting man like myself come back just to test it out.

I was hoping to see a huevos rancheros on the board, so that I had an excuse to pop over here for breakfast. Perhaps they do have that at the weekend so maybe I should take a detour one Saturday or Sunday morning to find out?
