Market Street Deli lies in the heart of the Market Place area just steps from the popular covered market and right in the midst of the throng of tourists. This place was small and simple, it seemed that it was more for the locals than the tourists and suited us just fine with it’s no frills menu, and no ‘air and graces’.
The lady running the place was very friendly and made us feel quite welcome. We just wanted some kind of a egg sandwich and she pointed us in the right direction on the menu
The Loaded Breakfast Sandwich
I ordered “The Loaded Breakfast Sandwich” which is basically a ‘Fried egg with cheese, and your choice of Meat, served on Toast, Kaiser Roll, Biscuit, Croissant or Bagel’. My choices were egg, and sausage on a Kaiser Roll, which is my most favourite bread roll over here. This particular combination is my go-to breakfast sandwich of choice.
Looking a Bit Closer
I like that they cut my sandwich in half, and not just so that I can take a picture of the inside :-). In the Market Deli they arrange everything neatly into distinct layers, which I like. Some other places seem to like to mix the cheese into the egg which does not always work. So I was very happy to find that they kept everything nice and simple here.
Menu
We ended up eating here twice, chowing down both times on that Loaded Breakfast sandwich, the first time it was pretty quiet and it was just us and a few locals reading the papers, the second time was on Thanksgiving morning when it was one of the only places open, and that day it was very popular. I really liked the simplicity of the place, especially with all the tourist traps around the market, this place seemed to be a lot more real and down to earth.
