Dunhill Café on 45th Street between 7th Avenue and The Avenue of the Americas is a pretty good option for reasonably priced breakfast if you are staying in Midtown. Last week I was billeted at the Grace Boutique Hotel just a short walk from Times Square and this place was just perfect as it was located just a few doors up W 45th from the hotel.

I had considered a Traditional Irish Breakfast at the nearby Connolly’s Pub for $14 or even one of their Breakfast sandwiches for $11, after all there was always the chance of washing that down with a mid morning pint of beer.

However just a few doors away was the Dunhill Café chalkboard with a whole lot of cheaper and quicker to acquire options, served ALL-DAY long 🙂

I do like the New York take-out and café style of breakfast sandwich, for a reasonably small outlay you get a decent sized, competently made, filling bite.  My choice here was the number 2 “2 eggs with bacon/ham/sausage & cheese on a roll’ for $4.49

It is not fancy, it probably is not that pretty, but I always find that it is satisfying. They do vary from place to place and I will admit that I have had better ones in NYC, my current favourite are the ones that they sell in Penn Station. I think that they use better eggs there.

I love the Kaiser roll and I love the way that they cook the egg on the flat top and kind of fold the cheese into it. The sausage patty here was not bad, but it was probably better earlier in the morning, I walked in around 10 and mine was fished out from a tray of a batch that was sitting on the counter top warming.

If you just get eggs you can get one for $2.75. I usually like to get one with some sort of meat and find that the sausage is usually better than the bacon.
