Press and Melt were at Treacle Market in Macclesfield on Sunday serving up some rather excellent Grilled Cheese Toasties.
I do love a bit of Grilled Cheese action so I was pretty keen to check them out!

It was still early in the day and I was on the cusp of a brunch scenario so I was thinking that the Crispy Bacon Melt would make a good breakfast snack
Listed as “Crispy Bacon, Medium Mature Cheddar, Mozzarella, Sweet Caramelized Red Onion, on sourdough” served with salted tortillas it sounded the perfect solution for my needs.
Later in the day I would have been all over the Tuna Melt which is one of my favorite sandwich combinations but to be honest it was too early for fish.
GRILLED CHEESE ON THE HOT PLATE

As we waited patiently for our sandwiches I caught a bit of grilled cheese action as I watched them prepare my toastie on the hot plate.
I love the way that they use the heavy metal press to squash down the bread to get that perfect buttery sear on the outside
I try not to drool too much over the crispy bits of cheese poking out of the sandwiches where it has oozed out on to the hot plate.
CRISPY BACON MELT

This was a fantastic grilled cheese sandwich from the guys and gals at Press and Melt
The bacon was excellent, plentiful and ‘dead dead crispy’ as they say. I love it when it is a bit crunchy!
I really liked the combination of cheeses within the sandwich, the mozzarella giving it that stretchy chewy pull as you take a bite, the cheddar adding a tangy richness that got the juices flowing in your mouth.
The sweetness of the caramelized onion was blended well within the mix, it was not too overpowering and helped to cut through the richness of all that cheese
We did share and it was enough for a small bite to keep my going but I regret now not having a whole one all to myself.

I do tend to gravitate towards the grilled cheese stands when I hit up the local markets and I do have to say that this one from @pressandmelt does stand out from the crowd.
I look forward to crossing paths with them again on myfoodhunting travels ๐๐
Next time I will have to try the Tuna Melt and if we have to share then I am getting one of each
